- Once you have a paste, leave 1 tablespoon oil in the frying pan from Step 2 and lightly stir-fry the sambal. Then, mix it with the tempeh and kecap manis.
- It's ready! You can also top it with a citrus peel for a zesty flavour.

Aside from tempeh, you will need the following ingredients to prepare kering tempeh: palm sugar, tamarind, red chilies, shallots, garlic, kaffir lime leaves, Indonesian bay leaves (daun salam), galangal, coriander powder, and salt. For palm sugar, you can buy either the block version or the granulated version.
