  4. Break the bay leaves in half and put them into the hot water (turn off the heat) and put lid on

  6. Pan fry the ginger with olive oil
  7. After moving it around in the pan for a bit, remove get rid of the ginger
  8. Pan fry the chopped garlic
  9. Stir fry the potatoes and carrots
  10. Add yellow bell peppers to the mix
  11. Sprinkle a bit of black pepper and salt
  12. Add the tomatoes last to the stir fry
  13. Sprinkle a bit of brown sugar
  14. Add water (room temperature) to the mix just enough to cover the ingredients in the pan
  15. Add basil herbs
  16. Let it boil
  17. Add lentils to the pot of boiled water
  18. Add the cooked vegetables into the pot
  19. Cook with lid slightly opened
  20. Note: time taken to cook lentil soup depends on how much ingredients you have and how big of a pot
  21. This recipe will take 30-45minutes to cook in the pot
  22. The way to check if it's ready or not is to see if the potatoes and carrots are soft already

  24. After adding the corn, taste the soup
  25. Add 1tsp of soy sauce
  26. Add 1/2 tsp of vinegar
  27. Add extra salt and brown sugar as you wish
  28. Lastly, add a bit of lemon juice
